Members of the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD) perform their winning number during the 2009 National Cheerleading Championship college division at the Ynares Sports Arena recently.

The UPHSD Altas Pepsquad bested a talent-laden field, including two-time defending champion Central Colleges of the Philippines (CCP), to bag its first-ever championship after a number of runner-up finishes. Pasig Catholic College topped the high school division.

CENTRAL Colleges of the Philippines beat 10 other squads to retain its crown in the 3rd National Cheerleading Championship at the Ultra on Sunday.

“We were not expecting to win since the competition was very tough. Honestly, we got intimidated with the other squads, but we just went through it, stayed confident, and gave it all,” said CCP Bobcats team captain Joseph Mascarina.
